Description
In 1975, Gerard Bertrand began his grape harvest at Chateau de Villemajou in the Corbieres and discovered his passion for wine there. For twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father Georges Bertrand, until the fourth generation finally carried on the legacy. After his father’s tragic death in 1987, Gerard Bertrand took over the family management of the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gerard Bertrand wine company. The Gerard Bertrand Group comprises 16 wineries and 16 chateaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares. Part of the grapes are harvested by hand and matured in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, while the rest is stored in stainless steel tanks.
Gerard Bertrand Orange Gold is a first-class organic orange wine from the Languedoc, composed of the grape varieties Muscat, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mauzac and Viognier. This wine embodies the charm of the Old World and demonstrates the success of traditional European winemaking.
The region’s warm climatic conditions contribute significantly to the ripeness of the grapes, which are harvested particularly well and with a high must weight. After careful hand-picking, the grapes are carefully processed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Subsequent maturation on the fine yeast gives the Orange Gold its balanced structure and depth before it is bottled.
