Description
The Tement winery, located in southern Styria on the border with Slovenia, concentrates primarily on the cultivation of white grape varieties. 95% of its vineyards are planted with varieties such as Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc, Morillon and Traminer. The wines, which are grouped under the name “Steirische Klassik”, come from different vineyards and mature in stainless steel tanks. In addition to the “Steirische Klassik”, the winery also produces single-vineyard wines, each of which reflects the characteristic influence of its specific vineyard site and is matured in both large and small wooden barrels.
Tement Morillon Ried Zieregg is a white wine made from 100% Morillon grapes, which are grown on a soil composition of loose brown earth over sparse coral limestone. The vines of this wine are around 40 years old, which contributes to the quality and intensity of the taste. Vinification involves natural spontaneous fermentation, followed by a 24-month maturation period on the fine lees in oak barrels with a volume of 228 liters. The wine is then bottled unfiltered. It is characterized by a long shelf life, with an ideal drinking maturity that lasts until at least 2040. The wine is bottled in cork-sealed bottles.
