2020 Vintage Rated 90 points Wine Enthusiast. This well-priced wine is fruit-forward and spicy, full of supple berry fruit, cinnamon, tobacco leaf and flower-stalk notes. Sappy, taut tannins overlay the brambly fruit on the palate, and there’s just enough acidity to keep things fresh. It offers tasty weeknight sipping slightly chilled, with a fatty plate of charcuterie.

The 2022 Francis Cabernet Franc has been made incorporating 30% whole bunches, and that uber spicy, crunchy, stalky vibe works well with the floral, purple, leafy Cabernet Franc. It has a Chinon vibe, which I like, yet it still speaks of Coonawarra. This was bottled early with no oak maturation. It’s not hugely complex, and the whole bunches may polarize, but this is good, modern drinking here. Exciting.
