Description
Gruner Veltliner is the signature grape of Austria (as Riesling is to Germany). The Aigner is a great introductory wine for those who want to explore this interesting variety and enjoy saying the name. It shows very well for this reasonable price.
With a slightly lower latitude Austria’s Gruners often reach a little more ripeness and alcohol than it’s northern neighbors though they are customarily fermented bone dry. This is a great food wine or an aperitif sipper. It has characteristic floral aromas with hints of tree fruit and even unripe pineapple. It’s herbal edge makes it pair well with dishes with parsley, mint, dill. It’s acidity makes it great with fired food especially seafood, It also pairs up well with the lemongrass, lime flavors in some Thai dishes and curries as well.

“Well-balanced, with flavors of apple and dried apricot and hints of fleur de sel all supported by firm acidity. Remains focused on the moderately long finish.”— Aleks Zecevic
