Description
The Andrew Will winery is named after founder Chris Camarda’s son (Andrew) and nephew (Will) in a shack in 1989 after a few successful vintages they moved the winery and acquired vineyard land in the high quality “Horse Heaven Hills’ region in Washington state. this Cab is from the Champoux vineyard pronounced “shampoo” and the wine shows great elegance and depth with plenty of dark fruit and dusty minerality. He’s been producing wines since 1989 and the varietal wines, especially this Cabernet was an instant hit and has been ever since. This bomb of a wine is still light on it’s feet with a reasonable 13.5% alcohol level, well integrated tannins and good acid balance. Drink or hold and enjoy it with some grilled beef or lamb or grilled veggies if you prefer.
91 points from Wine Advocate – Complex, layered and expressive with notions of ripe black cherry skin, dark plum, dusty black raspberry, hints of redcurrants, crème de cassis, subtle red flowers and hints of brown baking spices. Medium-bodied, the Cabernet compresses on the palate to show its complexity with its tighter frame, succulent acids and fine-grained tannins. Showcasing focus and precision, there is no lack of complexity as the wine concludes with a delightful and lingering finish.
