Description
This whiskey is produced in the Baden State Brewery Rothaus in the Upper Black Forest. In 1791, the brewery was founded by the Benedictine monastery of St. Blasien. The location offers sufficient water resources and, due to its position in the middle of large forests, also enough wood for heating.
Every year on March 16, the new edition of the brewery’s single malt whisky is released. The whisky is a tribute to the birthday of the long-time brewmaster and whisky father Max Sachs.
For the production, malt is combined with the particularly soft Rothaus water. It is then distilled twice in copper stills at the Kammer-Kirsch distillery.
The maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels made of white oak.
