The company’s founder, Don Andres Brugal Montaner, left his native Spain to seek wealth in the Caribbean.
After learning the craft of rum production in Cuba, he was drawn to the Dominican Republic, more precisely to Puerto Plata, around 1855. It is in this city that the rums of the Brugal company still mature today. After a few years there, he developed his own production process, which ensures the consistent quality of the rums. To this day, this process is a well-kept secret that is now passed down from generation to generation.
This brown rum is aged between 5 and 8 years in oak barrels. Its aroma is reminiscent of coconut and burnt creme brulee.
