Description
Wine tells stories, and that of Carlos Serres is one that stands the test of time. The French wine consultant from Bordeaux, whose homeland was ravaged by the phylloxera plague, discovered the perfect terroir for high-quality wines in Haro, in the heart of Rioja. Inspired by the best vineyards in his homeland, he not only recognized the potential for Bordeaux-style wines, but also opened up a new perspective: the international export of Rioja wines.
All Tempranillo and Graciano grapes for this wine come from carefully selected parcels of the 60-hectare Finca El Estanque vineyard. This vineyard, which is owned by the winery, is located in the best areas of Haro and offers optimal conditions for the cultivation of high-quality vines. The vines have an average age of 30 years and contribute significantly to the quality and complexity of the wine.
After destemming and gentle pressing, the juice macerates on the skins to intensively extract aromas and colors. Fermentation then takes place in concrete vats for around 13 days at a controlled maximum temperature of 30 ºC.
The wine is then aged for 24 months in a harmonious combination of American and French oak barrels, followed by at least 12 months of bottle ageing to perfect its character and elegance.
