Description
The estate spans 12 hectares and is planted mainly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines. The soil is rich in iron, a characteristic typical of the terroir of Pomerol. This fact that inspired the name of the estate: “Taillefer” comes from the French phrase “to cut iron.” The high iron content imparts complexity to the wine together with minerality and aromas of truffles and violets.

The 2019 Tailleger is a bold, luscious Pomerol that will drink well right out of the gate. Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch, spice, rose petal, blood orange and mint build nicely in the glass. This is an especially plush, ripe style, but it all works well.

An attractive, nicely made wine, the 2019 Taillefer reveals aromas of sweet berries, rose petals and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate framed by powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish.
