The Distillerie Tessendier estate was founded in 1880 by Gaston Tessendier. Today, it’s still run as a family house, Maison Park, built on carrying that tradition forward through the generations. The Borderies cru, one of six delimited growing regions for cognac, is the one of the smallest by land area. A rarity among cognacs from this region, Cognac Park Borderies was aged 12 years, with the first 10 months spent in new Limousin oak casks before being transferred to older casks. After another 11 years in those used casks, it is finished for 9 months in Japanese Mizunara Oak, a much prized wood for aging spirits that is seldom seen due to it’s price and notorious difficulty to work with. But the result here is spectacular, with the Mizunara adding a richness and depth of spice that is atypical for Cognac, particularly at just 12 years of age. Bottled at 44% abv.
