Description
The history of Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana, better known as CVNE, began in 1879 in the town of Haro, one of Spain’s most famous wine centers. The initials of the company were used for the name, but a simple spelling mistake, where the “V” was mistaken for a “U”, resulted in the brand name “CUNE”. Ironically, this mistake led to the creation of one of the leading wine brands on the national market today.
The company’s wine production takes place in El Pilar, the first facility in Spain specifically designed for wine production. Cune Rioja Reserva uses grapes from the prestigious Caballeros, Santo Tomas and Sarnamoros wineries, located in the prestigious Rioja Alta region, in the towns of Rodezno, Villalba and Haro.
The grapes first ferment in a 20,000 kg stainless steel tank. After fermentation, the wine undergoes heat maceration before remaining in the tank for 18 months. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation, which gives it a velvety texture. Finally, the wine is matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels, which gives the wine its complex aroma and balanced structure. These meticulous processes help to ensure that the Cune Rioja Reserva offers an incomparable taste experience that will delight connoisseurs and gourmets alike.
