Description

This 0.9-hectare vineyard lies on a complex array of soils. Limestone dominates, instilling the wine with an admirable degree of restraint – though there’s a coating of sweet red fruit to the grippy tannins. While subtle, it’s already complex, with delicate floral aromas and a hint of spice on the finish. Drink 2024-2032.

The 2019 Santenay Clos des Mouches 1er Cru is matured with 5-10% whole bunches. The bouquet is well balanced with fine definition, dark berry fruit, sous-bois and fern. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry, very smooth, although I just prefer the detail and mineralité of the Clos Rousseau at the moment.
