This is a steal for the way its savor and black cherry collide on the palate. It starts off with an herbal riff on cut-leaf tobacco. The tannins are firm and a touch furry, but the wine’s acids buoy the flavors into a bright burst on the finish.

Even with 3% Syrah thrown in for good measure, this is one light Pinot Noir that’s driven more by its laser-beam acidity than body or tannic structure. Blackberry and lemon aromas are matched by forest- floor notes of pine-needle duff and mushrooms. A tart, not-quite-rip blackberry flavor melds with olive oil and saline notes.
