Description
The Felsina winery, located on the southernmost edge of the Classico zone, is one of the most famous in all of Tuscany. The low lime content of the soil provides excellent conditions for growing grapes. The winery has received several awards for its high quality as well as top wines: “Winery of the year 2009” in Gambero Rosso as well as countless 3 glasses wines.
The fully ripe grapes of Fontalloro come from vineyards located between Chianti Classico as well as Chianti Colli Senesi. Chianti Classico is located in the highest area of Felsina, with the Chianti Colli Senesi vineyards being lower. The grapes are characterized by different soil conditions – on one side the soils are stony and calcareous, on the other sandy and clayey.
