Description

Tepextate can take 25 years to blossom, which means that a mezcalero might spot one growing in the wild, but by the time it’s ready it will be his son who takes it out of the ground. These plants are gargantuan, and sprout canary yellow flowers at the top of their long stems. The mezcal made from tepextate is often heavily perfumed, like gewürztraminer. Fidencio’s tepextate is floral and sweet, balanced by pleasing roasted vegetable note
