Description
The wine that originates here is considered finer and more “feminine”. A very complex and balanced Barolo that brings out the typical floral sensations of the Nebbiolo grape. The palate is elegant and harmonious with tannins that are usually quite sweet and smooth.

Lifted aromas of high-toned red fruits, with fresh cherries, raspberries, and cranberries leading the charge mingle notes of clove, anise and cinnamon. Hints of thyme and rosemary, along with a touch of black tea, provide an intriguing shift to the nose as it opens. On the palate, the wine displays a balance between savory and fruit with a slightly herbal edge that adds to its allure. Fine tannins provide structure and support. Drink now – 2040.

Pouring a jeweled ruby color, the 2020 Barolo San Lorenzo Di Verduno is a bit more reserved on opening, with notes of fresh red cherries, then takes a darker mineral tone aromatically, with a hint of black truffle, fresh crushed flowers, and fresh earth. The palate reveals more depth and richness while being light on its feet, with sweet tannins, more sapidity, a mouthwatering mineral tone, and a delicate glycerol richness. It has an approachable feel and is going to have a wide drinking window over the next 10-15 years.

The 2020 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verdun() is a pretty wine for this site, albeit it a bit quieter than most years. Black cherry, new leather, licorice, lavender, dried herbs and gravel are nicely woven together. In 2020, the San Lorenzo shows its typical savory, mineral profile but possesses less richness and tannic heft than is typical of most vintages.
