Description
In 1975, Gerard Bertrand began his grape harvest at Chateau de Villemajou in the Corbieres, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over the course of twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father Georges Bertrand until the fourth generation finally carried on the legacy. After the tragic death of his father in 1987, Gerard Bertrand took over the family management of the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gerard Bertrand wine company. The Gerard Bertrand Group comprises 16 wine estates and 16 chateaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares. Some of the hand-picked grapes are matured in 225-liter Bordeaux barrels, while the rest is stored in stainless steel tanks.6 estates and 16 chateaux. Gerard Bertrand La Forge is a fine cuvee made from old Carignan and Syrah vines. The Carignan vines are an impressive 80 years old, while the Syrah vines have reached an age of 20 years. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand to ensure the high quality of the grapes. After the careful harvest, the wine matures in 225-liter Bordelais oak barrels and is refined for 10 to 12 months in the wine cellar. La Forge is then bottled and sealed with a natural cork to preserve its aromas in the best possible way.
