Italicus Bergamotto liqueur predates Italian amaro and vermouths and was the original favored aperitivo. The Italian tradition of the “aperitivo” a refreshing beverage that opens the palate for food as well as ocaisioning the need to connect with friends and family in the evening is central to Italian culture. An aperitivo can be a glass of dry white wine, an Aperol Spritz or any number of cocktails. This bergamot liqueurs is produced from this citrus fruit with intense flavors and essential oils. The best comes from a region in Calabria. The bergamot base is enhanced with other botanicals that lend floral (rose and lavendar) and spice notes.
This spirit lends itself to a huge number of cocktails as well, everything from a simple spritz to new riffs on old faves like Negronis, martinis and margeritas.
