Description
The Paul Kerschbaum winery is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufraenkisch region of Horitschon in Burgenland. The term “Blaufraenkischland” refers to a wine-growing region in central Burgenland, where the Blaufraenkisch grape variety is mainly cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum’s aim is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a woody touch. In 2011, Paul Kerschbaum placed the production of the wines in the hands of his son Michael.
The grapes for the Blaufraenkisch Ried Duerrau come exclusively from the renowned single vineyard Duerrau in Horitschon, one of the best sites in the region. The 21-day temperature-controlled mash fermentation gives the wine its dense structure and intense depth. The malolactic fermentation took place exclusively in wooden barrels, followed by 15 months of ageing. After maturing, the Blaufraenkisch is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.
