Description
The Paul Kerschbaum winery is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufraenkisch region of Horitschon in Burgenland. The term “Blaufraenkischland” refers to a wine-growing region in central Burgenland, where the Blaufraenkisch grape variety is mainly cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum’s aim is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a woody touch. In 2011, Paul Kerschbaum placed the production of the wines in the hands of his son Michael.
The grapes for the Kerschbaum Blaufraenkisch Ried Hochaecker come exclusively from the single vineyard Hochaecker, one of the outstanding vineyards in the region. The temperature-controlled mash fermentation lasted 22 days and ensures a deep, expressive structure. The malolactic fermentation took place mainly in wooden barrels, in which the wine then matured for 16 months. After this careful maturation, the Blaufraenkisch is gently bottled and sealed with a screw cap.
