Description
Aromatics of crushed pink quartz, chalk, rose talc, hibiscus in bloom. An explosion of cherry blossoms, the light curling through. Crushed strawberries underfoot, a tension like the edge of innocence. Waves of strawberry and cranberry freshness weave through the lifted palate along a seam of superfine bubbles; zest of blood orange and mandarin peel radiates toward the edges. The acidity is pure and structural, a hallmark of the high diurnal swings of the Tulbagh region and the cool 2021 vintage. A touch of earth, and creamy kiss of lees, before tapering into a liquid minerality and a dry, strawberry-hued finish. Krone Cuvée Brut Rosé delights in food that favours honest expression; from a simple picnic with slivers of charcuterie, crusty sourdough bread, ripe, melty Camembert. A tug-of-war between density and weightlessness, the structure lends itself to the refined too; salmon with crispy skin crackling and wild black rice to rolled porchetta, and duck with cherries.
