Description
The Tenuta La Massa winery is located in Panzano in Chianti in the middle of a hilly area characterized by altitudes between 315 and 460 meters above sea level. The vineyard covers an area of 45 hectares and is crossed by the Borro della Massa, which strongly influences the modeling of the slopes. The soils of the area consist mainly of green and gray clay with intercalations of fine siliceous limestone and quartz limestone sandstone. The vineyards cover 25 hectares and are planted with Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
La Massa started a research project in 2002. The aim is to study the morphology of the soil in order to apply the right cultivation techniques.
