Description
Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio thrives in Italy, Alsace and… New Zealand. You didn’t know that because the production is tiny and they keep all that wonderful wine to themselves. So we jumped at the Lawson’s when we discovered it. This ubiquitous grape adapts to it’s terroir and production methods so the New Zealand style trends toward the alsation style with a kiwi twist to it.
The wine kicks off with lovely stone fruit notes on the nose with floral hints The palate is slightly off dry but they racy acicdity gives it a mouthwatering zing. It has more heft and texture in the finish thanks to some lees aging and barrel fermentation on 10% of the wine. Really nice and aromatic as an aperitif or pair it up with salmon, port roast or chope, soft cheeses, Indian and Thai dishes.
