“aged in 30% new and 70% second-fill French oak; from vines in Altamira, La Consulta and Gualtallary): Full, bright ruby. More pristine on the nose than the Paraje Altamira Malbec, offering scents and flavors of blueberry, blackberry, cherry, crushed rock, bitter chocolate and violet. A step up in sweetness and pliancy as well and less wild, offering very good concentration and balance if not quite the energy of the wine from Paraje Altamira (even though this Malbec actually includes some even higher-altitude fruit). Finishes with good breadth, serious chewy tannins and subtle lingering sweetness. Turned a bit dry with aeration.” Stephen Tanzer
