The name ‘Monkey Shoulder’ is to be understood as a reminiscence of the traditions:

In the old days, the workers of the distillery used to turn the germinating barley by the ton with shovels, hour after hour by hand.

This hard work sometimes hurt their shoulders and their arms hung down low, almost like a chimpanzee.

This temporary complaint was called the ‘monkey shoulder’ and this Scotch was named after it.

The Monkey Shoulder Smokey Monkey was released by William Grant & Sons. The counterpart of the Monkey Shoulder Batch 27 Triple Malt.

This Blended Malt Scotch Whisky matures in First Fill ex-bourbon casks.
