Description
Mexican style lagers are at a height of popularity now, so it would only make sense that Mexican style amber lagers would be popular during the colder winter months (hence the multiple breweries releasing beers of the style). This particular one from the great brewers at New Image, pours a translucent, dark reddish-amber color with a large, foamy, light tan head. On the nose you get lightly roasted malts and bold lager yeast esters along with light citrus and green coffee aromas accenting. The body sits at a medium weight with a medium-light carbonation and a slightly crisp finish. The palate mirrors the nose on this beer, with an added lightly sweet caramel note mid-palate, while finishing lightly bitter and dry. Review by Dan Chacon
