ORIN SWIFT MACHETE PETITE SIRAH WINE
The baddest wine of them all, Machete takes no prisoners. It is in your face aromatically, punching your mouth from within. The tannins remind you what it’s like to feel, and the ink will put a smile on your face. Our simple goals with machete was to elevate Petite Sirah to the main stage and let it express its own attitude. Robust, dominant and unapologetic, the wine creates its own gravity, pulling all towards it with vintage after vintage resulting in a stellar blend of Petite Sirah, Syah and Grenache.
Wine Advocate 93 points – “Deep garnet-purple colored, the Proprietary Red Machete needs some swirling to reveal a core of beautiful crushed black plums, boysenberries and black cherry compote plus hints of cracked black pepper, garrigue and camphor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with muscular, crunchy black fruits and plush tannins, finishing long with lovely freshness. “Orin Swift Machete is violet ink in the glass, with a nose of black plums, cassis and cacao. The robust entry consists of a progressing palate of blackberry and boysenberry compote, a reduction of dark plum and ripe figs, and pure Amarena cherry. Flashes of vanilla and traces of minerality evolve into chalky tannins and a smooth lingering finish. Blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache from California. From winemaker Dave Phinney.”
