The family behind this brand of rum is none other than that of Ernest Hemingway, author, freethinker, adventurer and environmentalist.
He had many passions, but his boat “Pilar” was his greatest.
Hemingway’s descendants thus combined the name Papa (=Ernst Hemmingway) + his greatest passion (=Pilar) and brought this rum to the market.
To ensure that this rum maintains and reflects Ernest Hemingway’s lifestyle and attitude, a large part of the proceeds are donated to various institutions such as the International Game Fish Association, The Ocean Foundation, Pen International, etc.
Papa’s Pilar 24 Solera Profile DARK RUM is a Solera blend that matures in Bourbon, Port and Spanish Sherry barrels.
The blends used come from the Caribbean, Central, South and North America.
