Description
Providencia Rum takes its name from a Spanish ship that capsized in Florida in 1878. The cargo consisted of 20.000 coconuts, cigars, wine and rum. Rumour has it that the ship’s sinking was no accident. Allegedly, the captain and his crew seized the entire cargo and settled in the Florida, Palm Beach area, where coconut plants were grown to make money to survive.
Providencia is a mixture of four rums from different Caribbean islands.
The “Mayfair” brand, which is also behind Providencia Rum, is also known for its luxurious gins and vodkas.
