Description
Quinta da MURTA : “Bucelas” is a historically famous dry white wine of Portugal from Arinto grapes cultivated by the Romans over 2000 years ago. New trade routes to the Indies were toasted by Portuguese sailors with this wine. In Henry VI (written 1594) Shakespeare’s rowdy characters get drunk on this wine (as well as on beer and good sack) wherein it is call “Carneco”, a wine prized by the British Royal court.
The vineyards are planted at a good elevation in limestone and marl contributing a fine mineral note.
Arinto is a grape native to Bucelas with good acidity and notes of citrus, apple and tropical aromas and is very well suited to this terroir. Yields are kept low and organic viticulture and winemaking is adhered to in their practices
