Sanitas Imperial Stout

“This imperial stout from Sanitas is just different enough for it to stand out amongst the crowd yet still has plenty of those stout characteristics that will please any stout drinker. It pours a very dark brown, almost black, color with a small, dense and foamy mocha colored head. Aromas of dark chocolate and anise hit your nose up front, backed by some dark roast coffee and dark, bready malts. It has a medium-heavy body with a medium-light carbonation level, giving the beer a smooth mouth feel. Flavors of dark chocolate and light anise coat your tongue up front, followed by dark, roasted malts and coffee cherries on the mid-palate. Notes of molasses and an herbal characteristic that is almost like thyme come through on the finish, before dropping off moderately dry.” Review by Dan Chacon
