Description
In 1874, bartender Martin Wilkes Heron invented Southern Comfort, a whiskey-infused liqueur. Heron’s vision was to create a smooth, accessible whiskey in contrast to the harsh and overpowering varieties prevalent at the time.
This vision led to the development of a unique recipe that included a blend of stone fruits and spices, creating an iconic American flavor. Since then, Southern Comfort has symbolized the vibrant spirit of New Orleans.
An offshoot of this liqueur is Southern Comfort Black. In contrast to the original, it was bottled with a higher alcohol content, giving it a more whiskey-influenced aroma. Nevertheless, it is still a liqueur and thus remains rooted in the tradition of authentic Southern Comfort.
