The seat of Captain Hugh Munro and his family was Teaninich Castle; in 1817 they founded the first legal distillery in Ross-shire.

The original building together with part of Munro Castle has unfortunately disappeared, but the whisky heritage of the family has been preserved.

The 10 year old Teaninich comes from the distillery Teaninich and belongs to the Flora & Fauna series.
