Description
The Tschermonegg winery is a family business that has been producing wine on the South Styrian Wine Route for more than 120 years. The family owns 30 hectares of vineyards, which vary in location. These include Oberglanzberg, Lubenkogel and Poessnitzberg.
The 2023 wine year began with a very dry spring, which was characterized by alternating cool and warm phases before the vines began to bud towards the end of April. Rainfall during and after the flowering period led to massive fungal infestation. The months of July and August were mixed, with increased rainfall at the end of August. The main harvest lasted from the end of September to the beginning of October. Despite the challenges, the grapes showed a good aroma and the vintage was somewhat lighter in alcohol content, resulting in a particularly drinkable wine.
Tschermonegg Welschriesling is made exclusively from fully ripe grapes, which are harvested 100% by hand. After the harvest, the wine matures for 6-8 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled with a screw cap. This careful processing allows the wine to be stored for at least 3 years and gives it its characteristic taste.
