Description
County Cork is located on the southern coast of Ireland and is home to the small town of Skibbereen, which is crossed by the River Ilen. In 2007, three close friends decided to found the West Cork Distillery, an independent whiskey distillery in this region.
As is usual with other bottlings from the West Cork range, this whiskey is also triple distilled. A special feature of the production process is the use of pot stills, which are only half-filled.
This method enables efficient interaction between the copper of the stills, the pot stills and the rising steam, which has an influence on the character of the whiskey produced.
The West Cork MARITIME comes in a specially designed, nautical-inspired bottle, a tribute to the founders Ger and Denis McCarthy, who were fishermen.
