Description
The art of bourbon making began as early as 1812 on the grounds of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a nationally recognized historic landmark. When you visit, you can feel the deep historical legacy. The history of bourbon is closely intertwined with the history of Kentucky and, by extension, the United States.
The water used to produce Woodford Reserve is sourced directly at the distillery. It undergoes natural filtration through the limestone deposits on the property. This iron-free and mineral-rich water is a decisive factor in the production process, contributing significantly to the quality and uniqueness of the bourbon.
The Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Derby Edition honors the traditional Kentucky Derby in Louisville, which has been held annually since 1875. This bourbon, known for its classic, smooth character, is distilled in traditional copper pot stills. It is then matured for a period of six to eight years in new American white oak barrels, which give it a pronounced depth and complex flavor structure.
