Description
Angostura bitters, developed in 1824 by Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, a German doctor, was created in the Venezuelan city of Angostura, now known as Ciudad Bolivar. Siegert set up a hospital on the orders of Simon Bolivar, the South American freedom fighter, and initially developed the tonic as a treatment for tropical diseases.
Over time, however, it gained popularity as a condiment and is now a key ingredient in the preparation of classic cocktails.
Angostura Orange Bitter is a fascinating addition to cocktails, giving drinks a fresh, new note or bringing existing orange flavors to the fore. The orange notes clearly dominate the taste, complemented by spicy accents and the typical tart notes of Angostura.
Angostura Orange Bitter can not only be used in cocktails, but is also ideal for adding a sophisticated flavor to sauces and desserts. Its unmistakable Angostura aroma intensifies the flavor profiles of the ingredients, making their characteristics stand out even more.
