Description
French single malt from a cognac house? That’s right: Arlett is a range of whiskies developed by the Tessendier family, who are also responsible for Saison Rum alongside the renowned Cognac brand Cognac Park.
Thanks to their decades of expertise in brandy production, the Tessendier distillery has created three single malts which, despite their young age, have an astonishingly smooth texture and a surprisingly complex range of aromas for young whiskies. The pronounced softness on the palate is the result of the gradual reduction to drinking strength, which takes place during maturation and gives the Arlett products their unique mouthfeel.
The whisky is initially matured for three years in a combination of new American white oak casks and ex-bourbon casks, which give it a solid foundation of flavors and depth. After this stage, the whisky is given a six-month finish in casks that previously contained rum from Barbados. This additional finish gives the whisky special nuances, adding the sweet and tropical influences of Caribbean rum and further refining the overall profile.
