Antonio Galloni – Vinous
Burlotto’s 2014 Dolcetto d’Alba is a super-classic, mid-weight Dolcetto endowed with real pedigree. Lavender, mint, violets and blueberries are finely knit in a gracious, crystalline wine that frankly redefines what Dolcetto can be. Proprietor Fabio Alessandria used 70% whole clusters, which I have never seen in Dolcetto. The whole clusters seem to open the door to a whole new set of aromas, flavors and textures, but they aren’t really that apparent. This may be the single most compelling Dolcetto of 2014, a year that was very hard for Dolcetto.
