Description
Chanson owns a vineyard of 5.4 hectares in Premier Cru “Les Vergelesses.” The plot is located in a hollow at the bottom of the hill of Corton and its clay and limestone sol combination gives wines a very specific structure.

Bright forest-berry nose with delicate herbal notes. No giant, but the wines from this appellation seldom are. However, it has well-crafted tannins and good depth on the medium-bodied palate. Nice drive on the bright finish, thanks to the healthy acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

An intense style, evoking black cherry, blackberry, spice and earth flavors that quickly become entangled with the dense, dusty tannins. As a result, the finish is pinched for now. Best from 2024 through 2036. 50 cases imported.

Equally ripe and decidedly earthier aromas feature those of poached plum and a whiff of port-like nuances that still manage to come across as fresh. There is excellent volume to the caressing medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that helps to buffer the moderately rustic tannins supporting the firm and lingering finish. At least some patience is advised.
