CVNE, Tempranillo “Cune Gran Reserva” Rioja, Spain 2017 discount

85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo.

The first wine produced by the company took its name from the initials CVNE. A fortuitous misspelling between the U and the V created the iconic Cune brand.

The specially selected grapes for Cune Gran Reserva come from estate vineyards in Torrentalbo. The vines are 45 years old on average, head-trained and south- and east-facing, while the soils are clayey with pebbles.

Malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks and, after 24 months of aging in American and French oak barrels, the wine is clarified and bottled. It is then kept for at least 36 months in cellar under strictly controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
