Description
Domaene Wachau, located in Austria’s most renowned wine-growing region, the Wachau, is one of the country’s leading white wine producers. Steep terraced vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize the wines of the Wachau. “Smaragd” refers to particularly complex, powerful and long-lived wines of the Wachau. Directly behind the baroque Kellerschloessel in Duernstein rises the steep local mountain of the Domaene Wachau, the Kellerberg. The vineyards stand on primary rock soil – on light-colored Gfoehler Gneiss, which consists of 90% feldspar and quartz. A classic among the Wachau wines. Power and elegance at the same time. Lots of substance and potential.
