Description
Domaene Wachau, located in Austria’s most renowned wine-growing region, the Wachau, is one of the country’s leading white wine producers. Steep terraced vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize the wines of the Wachau.
A mild and dry winter was followed by a cool spring with sufficient moisture, which benefited the vines during the hot summer days. Despite a few hailstorms, the year was generally positive until the fall.
The grapes for this Gruener Veltliner Steinfeder Gneis + Loess come from various vineyards along the Danube throughout the Wachau. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in order to obtain a characteristic Wachau wine style with rich fruit. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably and increasingly organically, without the use of insecticides and herbicides. After careful selection and pressing of the grapes in pneumatic tank presses, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.
