Description
Dark violet. Smooth and energetic on the palate, showing appealing sweetness and firm mineral spine to the dark berry and cherry liqueur flavors. Lots of bacon fat, cracked pepper, some green herbs, licorice and blackberry fruit. Les Lézardes is a juicy, lively, satisfying Syrah that’s ideal for drinking over the coming 3-4 years.
Various parcels from the northern edge of Côte Rôtie, mostly bottom slope. Rene is also using fruit from a Côte Rôtie vineyard in Tupin that he replanted in 2006.
Maceration of 7-20 days, 50-75% whole cluster barring the event of less than ripe stems.
Aged in a combination of older barrels.
