While most of Brian’s Pinot Noirs see roughly 15% new French oak, the 2014 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard was brought up all in neutral wood. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textured, with notable structure and acidity, it offers lots of black cherry and currant-like fruit intermixed with notions of sassafras, dried herbs and spice. Drink it through 2022.

This is certainly a wine to drink immediately, as its hibiscus, green cardamom and smoky pork notes can’t get any better. It’s a little leaner than many Loring wines, but the clove, nutmeg and mace spice up the cherry compote and blackberry-vinaigrette reduction qualities, with just a touch of soy for more umami fun.

Direct and forward, offering plum, black cherry and wild berry flavors in a tightly focused style that for now is more straight-ahead than complex. Drink now. 400 cases made.
