Description
Officially located just south of the Volnay border in the commune of Meursault, the vineyard’s red wines made from Pinot Noir may take the Volnay name (its Chardonnays must take the Meursault title). Santenots reds are usually lush and rich with good structure, ripe tannins and good aging potential.
Domaine Pierre Morey acquired this vine at the end of 2003 in the place called Les Pétures north of Meursault (although bearing the Volnay appellation, this Premier Cru is entirely harvested in the commune of Meursault). Located mid-slope, the plot is very well sheltered. The soils are shallow, quite red and their fine structure is easy to work.
Combining finesse and elegance, velvety while being heady, Volnay Santenots is a relatively powerful wine.
