Description
The Reservoir Distillery, founded in 2008 by Jay Carpenter and Dave Cuttino in Richmond, Virginia, is known for its handcrafted whiskeys made entirely from local grain sourced from farmers in the immediate area.
The production process involves double distillation, which is carried out on the grain in two bespoke stills, helping to preserve the whiskey’s unique character. The distillates are then matured in special 20-liter barrels that are finished with alligator char, which gives the whiskeys their unmistakable taste.
A particularly unique feature of Reservoir’s whiskeys is that each distillation uses 100% single grain, which brings out the flavor of each variety. Each bottle is carefully numbered by hand and sealed with wax, underlining the exclusivity and quality of the product. The Reservoir Virginia Bourbon Whiskey, which is a highlight of the distillery, is distilled from 100% corn, which gives it its characteristic taste.
