Description
Similar to sherry, port wine is also subject to strict rules of origin. This noble drop may only be produced in a special area, namely in the north of Portugal, more precisely in the Alto Duoro region.
The peculiarity of this region lies not only in its beauty, but also in the soil on which the vines thrive. The slate soil protects from the scorching sun during the day and becomes a natural solar reservoir during the cool nights.
For the harvest, the grapes are hand-picked, fermented on the berry skins and vinified to produce the famous Port wine.
Port wine is a jewel of Portugal and a tribute to the centuries-old wine tradition of this region.
